Momentum is a huge part of being an artist. As an artist, I think of momentum as keeping the buzz around my name. So much of our industry is about who you know and who knows you. Do you have a following? Are you a name talent? Have you been in something that everyone would know? These are all questions that come to mind when I think of momentum. If you don't yet fall into one of those categories, then you have to create enough momentum around your name so that people begin to know who you are.
You're probably wondering, how the heck do I do that?
Ways To Create Momentum
1. Outwork everyone around you.
2. Network as much as you can.
3. Reach out and collaborate with other actors, writers, producers and directors. Reach out to media outlets to see if they can feature you on their website, or in their blog, etc.
4. Create your own work and as many opportunities for yourself as possible to generate and keep that momentum going around your name.
You have the talent, and the drive. Now, outwork everyone around you, so you can get the recognition and opportunities you've been working hard for. I'm not saying it'll be easy. But I'm giving you a blueprint on how to get it done.
See you at the Oscars!
